The DAAS Executive Team and Board of Directors are excited to announce Mr. Lawrence Hood as our new Chief Executive Officer and Dr. Monica G. McLeod as our new Chief Academic Officer!
Mr. Hood brings with him a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to education, making him an ideal leader for our organization as we embark on our next chapter of growth and excellence. With a distinguished career in educational leadership including serving as the Chief Academic Officer at DAAS, a Vice President at the Achievement Network, a school leader in the Detroit Metro Area, and as a teacher at DAAS! Mr. Hood has consistently demonstrated his passion for fostering a supportive learning environment and empowering students to achieve their fullest potential. His vision aligns perfectly with our mission to provide a high quality, wholistic education anchored in the arts and sciences that prepares our students to compete in a global society.
Prior to leading teaching and learning at DAAS, Dr. McLeod served as the Senior Director of Teacher Leadership at DPSCD, a Director of School Support at the Achievement Network, and the Associate Director of the Center for Excellence and Equity in Mathematics with Wayne State University. Dr. McLeod spent over 15 years as a classroom teacher, most of them in middle school mathematics. Dr. McLeod is dedicated to DAAS’s ongoing mission to ensure that every scholar is successful and that every educator has the support to make that happen. We are confident that her leadership will advance our strategic plan in the coming school year and beyond!
